Portland, Oregon's, Jubitz Truck Stop and the Oregon Tourism Commission have combined efforts in a landmark public/private partnership to create what is arguably the best-equipped State Welcome Center on the West Coast.

Housed in the recently-renovated Jubitz Truck Stop complex in North Portland, the newest State Welcome Center will offer visitors all the amenities of a standard State Welcome Center, as well as access to the truckstop's new 80-seat movie theater, 24-hour gas station, deli, convenience store, laundry, barber shop, hair salon, hotel, emergency medical facility and a 6,000-square-foot retail mall.
"By working with the Tourism Commission to incorporate a State Welcome Center into this outstanding facility, everybody wins," says Julie Curtis, Oregon Tourism Commission assistant director. "Jubitz can deliver comprehensive Oregon travel information, including free publications, maps and trip planning advice, to their traditional customers, and draw new customers to their facility. The state receives space in a beautiful new facility that is open 24 hours a day; and the rubber tire traveler can find every service imaginable in one, easy-to-access location."
The new Jubitz State Welcome Center is the first partnership of its kind in Oregon. Jubitz Truck Stop has provided the site, rent-free, and will also provide staffing for the center seven days a week. The Oregon Tourism Commission funded all interior renovations and displays as well as working closely with ODOT to place directional signage on I-5 and the roads leading to truckstop.
A special event is planned to mark the opening of the new Center on May 9 as part of National Tourism Week, May 6-12.
Oregon currently has nine State Welcome Centers located at key entry points in Oregon.
