The Coors Brewing Co. of Golden, Colo., will evaluate the GlobalWave satellite communications system on trucks at its Anaheim, Calif., distribution facility.

According to Vistar Datacom, Herndon, Va., providers of GlobalWave, the system will be assessed for potential deployment throughout Coors' nationwide fleet of 650 service vehicles.
"The GlobalWave system offers us the capabilities we were looking for to help make our distribution service more efficient, and improve our service to our customers", explained Glenn Freeborn, Director of Operations for Coors. "In the Anaheim area alone our fleet covers a territory of over 60 square miles, and the GlobalWave satellite service gives us the universal coverage that we couldn't count on from a cellular-based system. With the ubiquitous coverage even in rural or remote areas, we're guaranteed reliable and accurate service from the GlobalWave technology. This in turn gives us the ability to provide that same reliability to our customers."
The system will be deployed on a variety of different Coors vehicles, including delivery trucks, mini vans, cars, bob-tail trucks and merchandise vehicles.
