Canadian National and CSX Intermodal aim to compete better with trucking with a range of new intermodal services connecting major Canadian and U.S. markets.

The CN-CSXI marketing agreement offers shippers five-day service for coast-to-coast intermodal traffic moving between Vancouver, B.C., and New York (Kearny, N.J.). Other key lanes include Toronto-Florida (four days) and Toronto-New York (two days).
James M. Foote, CN's executive vice-president, sales and marketing, said, "The CN-CSXI intermodal marketing agreement is a good example of how railroads can work together more efficiently to increase market share in an intensely competitive North American transportation marketplace.
CSXI President and Chief Executive Officer Clarence Gooden said, "This is truck-competitive service with truck-competitive reliability offered at rail intermodal rates."
