Intermec Technologies Corp. of Everett, Wash., will employ wireless services from Aether Systems, Inc., Owings Mills, Md., for its logistics system, i-gistics.

Intermec's i-gistics is a comprehensive system for fleets involved in multiple pickups and deliveries: LTL carriers, package carriers and private fleets, for example. The system includes operational software as well as handheld and onboard computers for detailed tracking of pickups and deliveries in real time.
Intermec will be using Aether Fusion, a new Aether wireless architecture that provides universal connectivity among all elements in complex communications programs such as i-gistics. Intermec systems such as i-gistics can include handheld, vehicle-mounted and stationary computer networking terminals running various kinds of software.
Aether Fusion unifies modular technology components that can extend business applications wirelessly to any handheld device over any wireless network. Aether Fusion incorporates Aether's hosting services, the ScoutWare family of mobile device synchronization and management software and Aether Intelligent Messaging.
