SPX Service Solutions of Warren, Mich., has introduced the Integrated Truck Diagnostic System, a individually customized PC-based diagnostic tool for mixed fleets.

According to SPX, some fleets register and load OEM diagnostic software onto personal computers themselves. They can encounter conflicts between programs from different OEMs. and each OEM's software looks and works a little differently.
The Integrated Truck Diagnostic System integrates software from different OEMs onto one computer platform, with a uniform graphic interface and a minimal number of cables. The system advises which cable to use for each OEM application.
SPX loads necessary OEM software for a specific fleet onto a special, ruggedized PC, pre-registers the software with the OEMs and sets up the system without conflicts. Customer technicians are guaranteed to get the same fault codes that OEMs do.
"Our Integrated Truck Diagnostic System is designed to adapt to any fleet's needs depending on their vehicle mix," says Drew Gibson, SPX Service Solutions fleet business team leader. "We use our Product Requirement Definition process to determine the types of vehicles, engines, transmission, brakes, etc. that the fleet has, then develop a diagnostic system for that fleet, incorporating software from only those OEM suppliers. Additionally, the system can be customized to include software for diagnosing both diesel-based and gasoline-based engines.”
According to SPX, each system is easily updateable and expandable with regular software updates. Software from new suppliers to the fleet can be added.
