Logistics.com, the Internet logistics and software company, has introduced OptiManage Capacity Finder, which will be implemented by Seattle-based Airborne Express.

According to Logistics.com, OptiManage Capacity Finder automates the procurement of truck capacity during surge periods such as month-end, quarter-end and the fourth quarter holiday period.
The system identifies shipments that cannot be moved by Airborne's primary transport provider, then offers the shipment to multiple preferred carriers simultaneously using a special web interface. Within minutes, OptiManage Capacity Finder collects responses and determines the best carrier for each shipment, securing capacity at contracted rates.
The system can award the shipment to transport providers using Airborne's transportation execution system. Shipments are identified, assessed and awarded without any manual intervention.
"Logistics.com's OptiManage Capacity Finder automates the difficult and time-intensive process of obtaining truckload capacity when demand surges," said Joe Hete, president of ABX Air Inc., the airline subsidiary of Airborne Express.
Airborne Express is a long-time customer of Logistics.com, which is based in Burlington, Mass.
