Web-based logistics provider Transplace.com, Plano, Texas, has announced a potential mega-alliance with Associated Warehouses Inc. of Cedar Knolls, N.J., a consortium of more than 50 for-hire distribution and fulfillment companies.

The partnership will provide integrated warehousing, distribution, web-enabled transportation management, supply chain analysis and optimization, among other logistical services – and on a broad scale.
The Associated consortium offers 90 million square feet of non-refrigerated, chilled and frozen warehouse space at 250 facilities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Services include fulfillment, pick-and-pack, just-in-time support, consolidation, packaging, assembly, warehousing, and logistics software.
Transplace.com, which merged the logistics operations of six major truckload carriers last year, claims a shipper base of many Fortune 1000 customers and a network of 5,000 carriers. The company has more than 500 representatives offering collaborative planning, execution, communication and quality control among shippers, carriers, and alliance partners.
"This alliance presents an excellent opportunity to provide integrated logistics services, demonstrated best practices, and collaboration on a larger scale," said Joel Sutherland, senior vice president of Transplace.
