A nighttime and weekend patching and resurfacing project for I-290/Illinois 53 in northwest suburban Cook County, Ill., is scheduled to begin Monday, April 2.

All travel lanes on I-290/Illinois 53, all ramps and some frontage roads will be patched and resurfaced from U.S. 12 (Rand Road) to Illinois 72 (Higgins Road). In addition, minor repairs will be done on nine bridges within the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in late June.
The project has been planned so lane closures will only occur during the hours of 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and over some weekends. When crews are working, traffic may be reduced to two lanes in each direction.
