The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has passed a bill that would increase the fines for log book violations from $50 to $500.

House Bill 153, which also directs state transportation officials to adopt the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance out-of-service criteria, now moves on to the state Senate. Out of service violations other than those for log books would be subject to minimum fines of $50 and maximum fines of $500.
The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Assn., in a "Call to Action" alert to its members, notes that the CVSA recommended maximum fine for an hours of service violation is only $100.
