Cummins has introduced PowerSpec, a Web-based application designed to program the electronic control modules (ECMs) on Cummins engines.

At the site, any authorized user can follow prompts to tailor specs on a Cummins Interact System (IS) engine for trucking applications.
PowerSpec provides information about programmable features, including configuring features and parameters, theory of operation and driving techniques.
Authorized users can make their choices and upload the changes. The settings can then be written to a diskette and brought to a dealer or distributor for actual engine programming.
"Cummins PowerSpec makes it easy for dealers to better spec equipment upon delivery, as part of Cummins ongoing commitment to customer support," said Laura Wenzler, director of marketing at Cummins. "PowerSpec also allows customers who may not have direct contact with a dealer or distributor to easily optimize their vehicles."
According to Cummins, PowerSpec currently offers support for Signature 600, ISX and ISM engine users, with availability on the rest of Interact System products being added later.
