Heavy trucks have been banned from Interstate 70 east of downtown Columbus, Ohio, while roadwork is being completed.
All vehicles wider than 7 feet are banned from the construction zone because lanes have been narrowed from 12 feet to 10.5 feet. Through November, trucks should take I-270.
Signs are posted advising truckers of the ban on a stretch of I-70 between James Road and the I-70/I-71 split and directing them onto the southern section of the interstate. Truck drivers who fail to detour risk fines of at least $100 and two points against their licenses.
