Led by AMBEST and TA truckstop/travel plazas, the NATSO Foundation's recently concluded annual blood drive netted more than 4,700 units for the American Red Cross.

Five individual travel plazas that collected at least 100 pints are being recognized this week during NATSO's annual convention in Los Angeles. Also being honored is AMBEST, whose members collected 1,697 units, and TravelCenters of America, whose participating plazas donated 2,028 pints.

The American Red Cross hails The NATSO Foundation's annual Drive to Save Lives as one of the largest industry blood collection efforts in the nation. Each pint of blood may benefit three lives -- which means that as many as 14,000 patients throughout the country could be helped through this year's effort.
