Ohio's Senate and House have both introduced bills to eliminate the split speed limit in the state.

Currently, trucks are limited to 55 mph, while other vehicles have a 65-mph speed limit.
Senate Bill 51 is sponsored by Sen. Lynn Wachtmann, and House Bill 55 is sponsored by Rep. Bryan Williams.
The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Assn. is urging its Ohio members to call their senators and representatives and urge them to support the bills, especially the House bill, which is further along in the legislative process.
"Differential speed limits don't prevent accidents," says a sample letter OOIDA suggests members send to their representatives. "They cause them by forcing drivers to be continually passing each other on both interstate and non-interstate highways."
