NTE, the web-based transportation exchange based in Downers Grove, Ill., plans to make its services available on wireless devices
such as handheld computers and WAP (wireless application protocol) phones.
The company announced it has contracted with a wireless software provider to deliver instant wireless interaction between NTE applications and handheld devices.
Among other things, such wireless access will allow individual drivers to book NTE shipments from their cabs.
"Our goal is to provide our customers with instantaneous access to our
e-marketplace on their terms -- anywhere, anytime and any way," said James
Davidson, NTE president.
