Another Internet transportation marketplace has gone belly up.

The site, called iCargo, aimed at air freight forwarders and carriers, shut down last week when its investment funds ran out.
According to the Journal of Commerce, the site missed its scheduled launch in July of 2000 and finally failed to secure a second round of financing because software did not meet expectations. iCargo’s customers reportedly included a number of far eastern air freight companies.
As recently as December, iCargo was among 40 startups pitching potential investors at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. Attendees paid $2,295 apiece for the event.
On Monday, the iCargo site at www.icargo.com still offered a slick, animated intoduction and promised "a new web based application to meet the needs of air cargo professionals."
Like FreightWise.com, which recently folded, iCargo never attained full operational status.
