A new Internet freight auction has opened for business.

Freightmart.com allows shippers to post shipments of any size going anywhere in the world. Freight forwarders and carriers then bid on the shipments.
The site was created by freight forwarding executive Chris Tangkilisan, who designed the site with freight forwarders in mind. However, carriers are welcome to bid directly on those shipments they are equipped to handle.
Registration is required; shippers pay nothing to use Freightmart.com. Likewise, forwarders and carriers can bid at no cost. But when a bid is accepted, the bidder pays on a sliding scale based on revenue beginning at a minimum of $9.95.
