Mapmaker DeLorme Publishing has formed a new business unit called Eartha Systems,
focusing on new Internet, wireless, handheld and GPS mapping products.
One new product offering is Eartha Maps, a free service that provides street-level maps and trip routing on the web at www.earthamaps.com. The system is faster than similar web-based products.
Other Eartha Systems products offer custom mapping services on other company web sites provided by DeLorme as an ASP (Application Service Provider). The service will also provide GPS location and mapping for Internet-enabled wireless phones and handheld computers using the Palm operating system.
