XATA Corp., Minneapolis, the onboard computer systems provider, has introduced the XATAnet family of products, which work with various wireless trucking systems.

The new suite of wireless, web-enabled applications, including automated driver logs and productivity products, will allow XATA to serve markets beyond its traditional stronghold in third-party logistics and private fleets.
According to Joel Jorgenson, vice president of sales for XATA, the XATAnet line of products will offer customers individual applications formerly available only as part of a complete on-board XATA system.
"XATAnet developed a new modular architecture that allows ala carte choices," Jorgenson told Truckinginfo.com.
XATAnet applications work with hardware from suppliers such as Qualcomm and Symbol Technologies, Jorgenson said.
Symbol offers handheld devices with bar code scanning and signature capture capabilities. Qualcomm, the mobile communications giant, markets the MVPc, a new Windows CE based onboard computer to be used with OmniTRACS and OmniExpress mobile communications systems.
Xata will continue to offer comprehensive systems such as XATA ONBOARD. However, XATAnet modular products will bring XATA into the large less-than-truckload and truckload commercial trucking markets, Jorgenson said.
