Volvo Truck Corp.’s worldwide deliveries totaled 81,826 in 2000, down 4% from 1999. The only decline came in North America, where deliveries were 23,608 units, down 31% from the previous year.

Other markets: Western Europe, 42,143, up 9%; Eastern Europe, 4,089, up 41%; North America, 23,608, down 31%; South America, 4,534, up 16%; Asia, 5,554, up 104%; other, 1,987, up 22%.
According to European press reports, the company expects the soft North American to continue at least through the first half of the year. The European market has peaked, but will remain strong. Asia and Brazil are growth markets this year.
