Vocational training programs, including those for diesel technicians, are getting a boost in Pennsylvania with grants for equipment.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge announced that 104 school districts and area vocational-technical schools will receive nearly $10 million in vocational-technical equipment grants.
"Today's high-tech workplaces make it essential that our students learn how to use the most up-to-date equipment," Gov. Ridge said.
Signed into law by Gov. Ridge last year, Act 16 created the new grant program to help vocational schools and school districts that offer approved vocational-technical programs upgrade the industrial equipment they use to train students in various technical fields.
These funds can be used to purchase equipment to train students in various vocational-technical education programs approved by the Secretary of Education, including diesel technology.
