Hookup.com, Joplin, Mo., a web-based truck, trailer and equipment auction, reported 2,280 bids in November, up from 150 in August.
The company said it anticipates more than 4,700 bids for the month of December.
The recently upgraded site now offers an equipment-wanted area, item tracking features, inspection and financing request forms and a Bid-O-Meter that allows feedback between buyers and sellers.
According to Kurt DeRuy, vice president of marketing and sales for hookup.com, “The industry is beginning to see that buying and selling equipment online is a valuable, cost-effective business tool. It allows sellers to market trucks, trailers and equipment outside their region and with the global focus of the Internet; the cost per thousand is extremely low. Plus, buyers are able to shop at their convenience.”
