In an effort to boost sales in the United States, Japanese truck maker Hino is considering assembling trucks in this country.

According to Reuters news service, this would make Hino's trucks more price competitive. It currently exports about 2,000 trucks a year from Japan to the United States.
Although Toyota owns 33.7% of Hino, a Hino spokesman told Reuters that the company is not in talks with Toyota to help it build a plant in the United States, as was reported in a Japanese publication.
