Have a toxic spill to deal with and no one to call?
You can find help around the clock on the web at a new site called The Spill Center (www.spillcenter.com).

The Hudson, Mass., company helps carriers handle potentially dangerous spills and their costly consequences with a variety of cleanup, disposal and legal resources.
According to information on the site, The Spill Center was founded 10 years ago by environmental lawyer Tom Moses on the premise that "no transporter will ever have enough spills to get good at managing them." Service has typically been provided by phone. Now, however, the Spill Center has introduced the web site to "help carriers better manage unintentional releases of hazardous materials and comply with government reporting regulations."
The Spill Center offers services to member companies, which include both small and large carriers. Emergency help is available to non-members as well. The first option on The Spill Center’s options menu is a reassuring "Get help now." There you can report the essential information on a spill; The Spill Center promises that a "Spill Center Compliance Associate will contact you immediately to discuss your needs."
