General Motors has announced that the $202 million expansion of its new Allison Transmission plant in White March, Md., will be finished in 2004 rather than in 2002, as originally planned.

When the expansion – which will double the size of the 400,000-square foot plant – is complete, the facility is expected to build some 280,000 transmissions per year.
The transmissions will go into GM pickup trucks, UPS delivery trucks and airport buses.
