GoFreight.com, a transportation software company of Dallas, has acquired LoadsOnline.com, a web-based load matching service based in Durant, Okla.
GoFreight.com plans to launch a transportation market based on instant messaging over the Internet.
Rather than log onto the GoFreight.com site, users will download GoFreight software that allows them to send and receive instant messages on the Internet even as they browse other sites.
A GoFreight spokeswoman said the experience will be similar to popular instant messaging services such as ICQ or AOL Instant Messaging. Everyone using GoFreight instant messaging will be able to see all messages posted. In that way, she explained, participants will be able to act in real time to, say, post or accept an available load. No confirming phone calls will be necessary, she said.
The acquisition of LoadsOnline.com will provide GoFreight.com users a functioning load-matching database of a more familiar kind, she explained.
