Construction of Interstate 15 through Salt Lake County in Utah should be completed within budget and ahead of schedule.

According to the Associated Press, a report released by the U.S. Department of Transportation said the project should be finished in July, three months ahead of the original contract completion date of October 2001, and that the projected cost of $1.632 billion has not changed since the reconstruction began in 1997.
The report also said that the original design usually adds significant costs to major projects, but they have been comparatively low on the I-15 project.
The UDOT hopes to have the freeway open, minus one or two ramps or connections, by May 15, 2001.
