The American Trucking Associations recently honored a FedEx executive and his safety program.

The ATA named Ron Joseph, vice president of transportation, safety and maintenance for FedEx Ground, Safety Director of the Year. At the same time, the safety program he manages was honored for being among the best in the country. For the second time in five years, FedEx Ground received the prestigious President's Trophy.
Joseph created the company's safety program in 1985 when FedEx Ground was founded.
The ATA presents the Safety Director of the Year award to the safety professional in the trucking industry chosen the most outstanding as voted by past winners. Entrants are judged on their career accomplishments. The President's Trophy is presented annually for a company's overall safety program.
