The Virginia Department of Transportation is shutting down lanes on I-95 near the Springfield Interchange this week as an extensive reconstruction project continues on what has become known as the "Mixing Bowl."

On the northbound side of I-95, one lane will be closed from Exit 169 to Commerce Street Bridge, which is under construction, while two lanes will be shut down from Route 644 to the bridge as well. One lane will also be closed from Commerce Street Bridge to the Franconia-Springfield Parkway.
On I-95’s southbound side, two left lanes will be blocked off on the stretch between I-495 and the Franconia-Springfield Parkway for bridge work and steel erection.
