Warehouse workers soon may be talking to their computers.

Milwaukee-based Catalyst International, a supplier of warehouse management software, has teamed up with SyVox Corp. of Boulder, Colo., to integrate speech recognition capability into new versions of Catalyst software beginning with its Release 8.1 product.
According to a Catalyst press release, the "speech-based solution..."allows warehouse workers to hear instructions through a headset and to communicate data and instructions to the system through a headset microphone."
Catalyst claims to be the first warehouse management software company to provide speech recognition capability standard in its products. Speech recognition, the company says, will become common in many warehousing and shop applications.
