McClendon Trucking, LaFayette, AL, now allows its drivers to send and receive Internet e-mail messages from the cabs of their trucks. Using Transcommunication’s pre-paid phone card and QualComm’s OmniTracs satellite-based communications system, drivers can communicate with friends, family and other drivers. Messages are transmitted via any on-line service provider through Transcom’s Network Service Center and over QualComm’s satellite to the truck.
