The Eaton Fuller Autoshift transmission has won the seventh annual Technical Achievement Award, sponsored by the Truck Writers of North America. The honor is given to a new product or service that achieves engineering excellence and broad practicality in the trucking industry.
The winner receives a crystal trophy, donated by Grote Industries each year since the company won the first TWNA Technical Achievement Award in 1991 for its red LED marker lamp. Runners-up for the 1997 award include the Cummins Smart Torque technology and the sleeper for the Volvo 770 tractor.
