Truck traffic on the Grande Ronde River Bridges eastbound and westbound on Interstate 84 west of La Grande, Ore., has been restricted to an overall gross weight limit of 80,000 pounds until the bridges can be repaired.

Oregon Department of Transportation crews found cracks along some major structural supports of both bridges. Repair work will begin next week and is expected to be completed by November.
The Oregon DOT suggests the following detours:
Westbound -- La Grande to Pendleton: Take Exit 261 to OR 82 eastbount to OR 204 westbound to OR 11 southbound to Mission Cutoff. Re-enter I-84 at Exit 216. Triple combinations are not allowed on this detour route. This detour route is limited to 12 feet in width and subject to snow closures.
Westbound -- Idaho to west of Biggs: Take Exit 376 to US 30 Business to OR 201 southbound to U.S. 26/U.S. 20 westbound to U.S. 20 westbound. In Bend, take U.S. 97 northbound to Biggs and re-enter I-84 westbound at Exit 104. Travel on U.S. 26 between Madras and Portland is allowed. This route is subject to snow closures. Triple trailer combinations are allowed.
