Trism subsidiary Tri-State Motor Transit, Joplin, Mo., has been awarded a five-year contract from the U.S. Department of Energy to transport radioactive waste from Department of Energy generator sites throughout the United States to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant near Carlsbad, N.M. The guaranteed value of the TSMT contract is $10.2 million, with the potential to earn up to approximately $29 million.
Tri-State was one of five carriers who submitted bids to the DOE. The award was based on safety, past performance, financial stability and price.
