Transportation.com, the Internet transportation marketplace, announced that its equipment auction is averaging 500 unique visitors a day and has sold nearly 600 items, including trucks, trailers, forklifts and other transportation equipment.

While Transportation.com functions primarily as a third-party logistics provider on the Internet, the site also offers equipment auctions. Buyers can follow the availability of equipment, establish a price range, raise bids automatically to a preset maximum preset and complete the purchase online. Auction sellers can sell to the entire Transportation.com buying community, or to a private group of preferred buyers.
Upcoming auctions are scheduled for Sept. 25-27, Oct. 9-11 and Oct. 23-25, followed by auctions Monday through Wednesday through the end of the year.
James D. Ritchie, president and CEO of Transportation.com, said the site would soon launch a classified advertisement service to give customers even more options for equipment acquisition and disposal.
