Penske Truck Leasing and TradeOut will jointly host an online used truck auction at www.tradeout.com Aug. 23-31.
More than 2,500 trucks from Penske’s Consumer Rental Division will be sold over the nine-day period. The trucks are located nationwide, have been serviced and maintained by Penske and are being offered in "ready to roll" condition.
The auction is timed to coincide with the end of the peak summer moving season and Penske's fleet reduction plans for early fall. Sponsors say it gives buyers a 90-day jump on the normal trade-in and re-distribution cycle. They also note that the trucks are "priced to move."
TradeOut is a privately held business-to-business Internet marketplace for excess inventory and idle assets. Penske is one of the country’s largest providers of transportation services.
