Kenworth Truck Co. and CFI will be teaming up once again to sponsor an entry in the annual Adelphia Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on July 4.
Veteran racer and designer Bruce Canepa will drive the Kenworth T2000 at the event to take place on July 4.
"I've very excited to have the opportunity to race the T2000 at Pikes Peak," said Canepa, who is taking over for CFI chairman and CEO Glenn F. Brown, who chose not to drive in the event this year. "I'll miss driving at Pikes Peak, but it's time to give someone else a shot," said Brown. "Bruce is a very capable and experienced driver and will do a good job of representing both CFI and Kenworth."
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, held in cooperation with the City of Colorado Springs and U.S. Forest Service, attracts many truck, auto and motorcycle competitors. The 12.42-miles course on a groomed gravel highway to the 14,110 ft. summit of Pikes Peak is open to the public year-round.
Kenworth, a division of Paccar Inc., is a manufacturer of heavy and medium duty trucks. CFI is based in Joplin, Mo, and is Kenworth's largest customer.
