Qualcomm, Inc., of San Diego and The Descartes Systems Group of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, have announced a join marketing agreement to allow integration of Descarte's dispatch and route optimization software with Qualcomm's newest mobile communications systems.

The Descarte software will integrate with OmniExpress, Qualcomm's recently introduced ground-based system using CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) wireless technology over the Sprint PCS network among others. OmniExpress allows both voice and data communications and costs less than Qualcomm's OmniTRACS satellite systems that dominate the truckload market. OmniExpress is aimed at local and regional fleets in the private and for-hire sectors.
