Large trucks were involved in crashes that killed 108 people in Iowa last year, the worst truck death toll in 15 years.

Lt. Tom Gabriel of the Iowa State Patrol told the Associated Press that truck and traffic on I-80 across Iowa was up 18 percent between 1996 and 1998.
"I think everyone, including passenger car drivers and motorcycle operators, has to be more cautious," he said. "Our roadways are becoming more congested."
