U.S. Secretary of Transportation Rodney Slater is in the first week of a two-week, multi-modal transportation tour across America to promote the Clinton-Gore administration's transportation policies.

Slater kicked off the tour in Laredo, TX, as the keynote speaker for the dedication of the $128 million World Trade Bridge.
Tomorrow, he will tour the truck driver training and education facilities of Memphis, TN-based M.S. Carriers. He will be accompanied by Julie Anna Cirillo, acting chief of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
The tour will also include seven "2025 Visioning Sessions," where Slater and other key transportation leaders will participate in listening sessions with representatives of academics, business, labor, and government on topics such as new-entrant carriers and competition, and safety.
Slater has conducted similar transportation tours every April since 1994.
