San Joaquin Delta College and Sacramento-based Western Truck School have formed a partnership in which Delta will offer classroom space and parking for instructional tractor-trailers, while the school is launching its standard, open-enrollment training program.
The program is similar to arrangements Delta has made with other local businesses in recent years in the hopes of developing training initiatives that will meet the needs of local industries. Spokesmen say the partnership also gives Delta the opportunity to promote other classes to students who might not ordinarily visit the campus and the ability to network with trucking companies in search of employees for a variety of job titles.
Other partnerships reportedly include a certification program that trains students in Cisco Systems' Internet networking equipment and one in which Delta began hosting regional training center classes for ACDelco.
