The NATSO Foundation has more than doubled its scholarship awards for 2000. This year, twelve $2,500 awards will go to truckstop employees and their legal dependents who have shown academic excellence.

Each year the foundation recognizes outstanding college and college-bound students from thc travel plaza and truckstop industry through the Bill Moon Scholarship Program. Last year the Foundation awarded $1,000 scholarships. This year the Foundation is expanding its scholarship program named in honor and memory of one of this industry's founding fathers and leaders - the late Bill Moon - to reflect the increasing cost of education and make the awards more meaningful to recipients.
"The Bill Moon Scholarship is an excellent opportunity for the many outstanding students in our industry," said Foundation Chairwoman Kathy Beeler of Dixie Truckers home, Bloomington IL.
Applicants are judged by an independent review committee with selections based upon a review of each applicant's academic merit, extracurricular and community activities and a short essay.
Those interested in applying for the scholarships should contact the NATSO Foundation at (703) 549-2100 for an application.
