Detroit Diesel Corp. reported 1999 net income of $49.2 million on revenue of $2.4 billion, both all-time records. Net income in 1998, before special charges, was $40.5 million on revenue of $2.3 billion.

Net income for fourth quarter 1999 was $12 million on revenue of $594 million, new fourth quarter records. Net income for fourth quarter 1998 was $10.3 million on revenue of $563 million.
Fourth quarter engine shipments were 41,900 versus 37,500 a year earlier. Full year shipments were up 7% to a record 166,700 units.
Fourth quarter revenues for on-highway engines were $388 million, up 11% from fourth quarter 1998. Demand within the North American heavy duty truck market continued to be strong through fourth quarter, but the company said it expects North American Class 8 truck production will decline 10-15% in 2000.
