Alvin Toffler, the author of "Future Shock" and "Creating a New Civilization: The Politics of the Third Wave," will offer his vision of the future of transportation at the Tenth Annual Meeting of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America May 1-4 in Boston.

The organization is expecting more than 4,000 attendees from around the world for the meeting and exposition, being held at the John B. Hynes Convention Center. Toffler will be the keynote speaker at the meeting's opening session Monday, May 1.
The four-day event will feature 13 technical tracks on topics ranging from transit to intelligent vehicles and human factors. An in-depth analysis of the ITS aspects of Boston's "Big Dig" artery/tunnel project and a "town hall" meeting where industry leaders meet the press also will be included.
The 45,000-square-foot exhibit area will be the largest ITS technical exhibition ever held in the United States, according to John Collins, ITS America president and CEO.
At a special awards banquet, ITS America will recognize the best examples of ITS across America in 1999.
