French truckers are threatening to blockade borders and ports starting at 8 a.m. Monday to protest high diesel prices and working hours.

The exact locations and duration of the blockades are not known.
Similar actions in 1996 and 1997 badly hurt trucking in Great Britain as truckers blocked English trucks from crossing the border.
Geoff Dossetter of the UK's Freight Transport Assn. told a European news organization that the British trucking industry too often has had to pay the price of French work actions.
