A new electronic data interchange link between Navistar International and Morgan Corp. should cut delivery time for Morgan customers, the company says.

The EDI program gives Morgan direct access to the production schedules for certain International chassis, such as the 4000 model series. Morgan knows when the chassis is released to drive-away and when it is shipped.
"Based on our experience, we are able to compute the average number of days from International's build time to the time the chassis arrives at Morgan," explained Craig Fisher, marketing vice president. "With this information, we schedule our body production with the chassis arrival."
Knowing in advance what materials are required, what manpower is needed and exactly when the body will be produced enables Morgan to manufacture the truck body faster and more efficiently.
Fisher said the program took more than a year to set up but was well worth the effort. It has worked so well, he added, that "we would like to see other OEMs come on board the same way."
