GE Capital Online Business Booming

Just 5 months after it's initial launch, GE Capital Fleet Servies' web ordering site is doing more than $3 million a day in online transactions -- and the company expects that number to triple in the next 6 months.

"Currently more than one-third of our customer base is using our online ordering tool to conduct every aspect of the ordering process," said John Schmitz, e-commerce product manager.
The site, gefleet.com, offers real-time access to manufacturer options, prices, and availability. GE Capital Fleet Services can submit orders directly to manufacturers. A special configuration tool has current change information so that all orders comply with manufacturer requirements.
GE Capital Fleet Services, headquartered in Eden Prairie, MN, has more than 1 million commmercial cars and trucks under lease and service management.
