Five top executives at Ryder's used-truck sales operations have given their notices and are preparing to start an independent used truck sales venture.

Jim Guice, general manager for vehicle sales; Lou Franklin, eastern regional manager; Daryl Cornell, western regional manager; Tom Mata, finance manager; and Steve Brown, fleet sales, resigned last week. They will stay with Ryder until Dec.10.
Details of the new business venture are sketchy at this point. However, the five reportedly felt that there was an opportunity in taking in fleet trades for sale as used vehicles.
