Deaton Inc., Birmingham, AL, has raised its mileage pay by an average of 12%. The most experienced drivers will see their rates go up more than 21%.

Effective Aug. 15, new pay scales will range from 27 cents per mile for drivers with less than one year of experience to 35 cents per mile for drivers with more than five years of experience. The previous pay ranged from 26 to 29 cents per mile.
However, stop-off pay will be reduced to $10 per stop, tarp pay will be changed to $15, and the terminal fuel bonus will be eliminated.
Drivers who are paid a percentage of revenue will get a 2% bonus if their monthly revenue is more than $11,000.
