Pacific Pride Services and Comdata have announced an agreement to develop new automated fueling equipment, known as SmartLock, which will be used throughout the Pacific Pride Commercial Fueling System.
This equipment will be designed to accept the Pacific Pride optical card, a new magnetic stripe card developed by the company, Comdata's Comchek Card, and a new, jointly developed Pacific Pride/Comchek co-branded card.
Bruce Douglas, Pacific Pride president, calls this the most significant market move for Pacific Pride in the last 10 years. "The equipment change will allow Pacific Pride marketers to offer an access card with real time controls, such as day of the week, time of day and other customer-specified limits."
The company estimates a five-year roll-out for installation of the equipment.
The Pacific Pride Commercial Fueling System is the largest dedicated commercial fueling system in the country, with 400 franchisees operating 1,250 locations in 42 states.
