The Federal Highway Administration will take a look at the truck parking shortage later this month in Atlanta.

FHWA will host a Rest Area Forum June 29 and 30 at the Sheraton Colony Square Hotel in midtown Atlanta. The purpose of the meeting is to explore ways to improve the availability and safety of commercial truck parking along highways.
In addition to government officials, FHWA has invited motor carriers, private truckstop operators, commercial drivers, safety advocates and other interested parties. Participants will be asked to review various issues associated with currently available truck parking and discuss action and/or legislation needed to alleviate the shortage. They will also look at ways to provide "real time" information to truckers about available parking.
